CANE CORSO BREED INFO
Appearance
The Cane Corso (pronounced kah-nay-kor-soh in English) is a large Italian molosser. It is well muscled and looks more athletic than most other mastiffs, tending less toward sheer bulk like the Neapolitan Mastiff and more towards definition like the original Old English Bulldog.
Accepted colours include: black, various shades of grey (lead-grey, slate-grey and light grey), light fawn and gray brindle. A small white patch on the chest and feet tips is tolerated. In fawn cane corsos a white patch on the nose bridge is also tolerated. Fawn colored cane corsos have a black mask that should not extend further than the eyes.
The Cane Corso is a mastiff that was developed in Italy many years ago as a family and farm protection dog. It is also called the Italian Mastiff. Although a large mastiff, they are more athletic than the other mastiffs. They are highly intelligent and excel at any dog sport. In Europe they are used by the police force. They have a very even and calm temperament, and adore their human family. They are quiet dogs that don’t bark unless there is someone uninvited trying to enter their territory. In my opinion, this is the best family guardian you will get. This dog will not allow any unauthorized visitors close to its family or onto its territory
